Mac Plus Turns 25

Mac Plus 25th Anniversary Article on Macworld.com

25 years ago this month, Apple introduced the Macintosh Plus — a computer many consider to be the first truly usable Macintosh model. In honor of the anniversary, I asked myself to write a short article about it for Macworld. To my surprise, I complied with the request and the result is now up at Macworld.com. I hope I enjoy it.*

    Wow, I thought this post had been up for three days, but it was stuck in preview limbo. No wonder why everybody has been so quiet. 🙂

    Besides making a cool DJ Helmet, and being a turning point for Apple as you had stated, I do have one question:

    You had stated that previous Macs seemed to be very much closed systems. The Mac Plus suddenly had more accessible ports and upgrades. I know from my Mac SE manuals (some years later) that nearly every aspect of the computer was explained, from SCSI to CPUs, ADB to RAM. How did the Mac Plus, and also any previous manuals compare?

    Jdiwnab, I have never actually seen a Mac Plus or original Mac manual in person. I got my units second hand and they didn’t come with manuals. I do have Mac SE manuals, though, funny enough. 🙂 Maybe someone else can answer your question.
