Benj’s Macworld and TechHive History Roundup
March 23rd, 2013 by Benj Edwards
I last updated you on my Macworld work back in January. Since then, I’ve been busy writing more historically-minded pieces for the site as well as its sister site, TechHive. Below you’ll find a list of the ones I haven’t mentioned yet on this blog in convenient digest form.
- 01-30-2013- The Little-Known Apple Lisa: Five Quirks and Oddities
- 02-08-2013 – The History of Electronic Board Games
- 02-11-2013 – The Mac Color Classic, 20 Years Later
- 02-16-2013 – Abandoned Apples
- 02-18-2013 – Evolution of the Smartwatch
- 03-01-2013 – The Evolution of Apple Pointing Devices
- 03-15-2013 – Teach Your Old iPod New Tricks
- 03-22-2013 – Apple’s Five Most Important Displays
Phew. I’ve been busy! Of those eight pieces, the Apple Lisa one can’t be missed. Plenty of interesting little-known history there. The Mac Color Classic and Abandoned Apples pieces are some of my favorites as well.
I’m not sure, but I get the feeling from the lack of comments on my Apple-related posts that not many Apple or Mac fans visit VC&G. Not quite sure why that is, but if you’re out there, let me know.

I really like the look of that Seiko UC-2000 watch and its base. I’m not sure why.

Great article on the Lisa. Love the screenshots, the picture of the actual machine, and the description of its quirks.

FWIW, I am a long time Mac user and I regularly read your articles on this site. It’s interesting and informative. I’ve been programming computers since the Commodore PET days, so all this stuff is interesting (and nostalgic) for me. I just don’t usually post comments due to lack of time unfortunately. Keep up the good work!

Long time Mac user here and I really enjoy all your posts, Apple related or not. I just usually don’t comment since I don’t have much to add, or don’t have the time to make a thoughtful post. Keep up the good work though, I’ve been reading this site for years!

Glad there are at least a couple Apple fans out there. Thanks for the kind words. I’m glad you like my work.

I too enjoy the Apple pieces and often read them in in the print publication a second time after reading them online. Great stuff!

See, you guys should have been telling me this stuff all along. Since nobody commented on my Macworld posts, I just stopped putting them up here for a long time. How can I know people like them if no one tells me?

Same here.. I’m a big Apple fan too, and I totally love your blog! I’m visiting here on regular basis and the only downside is that there aren’t even more blog posts to read 🙂 Keep up the good work!
