Every Sunday morning, it’s a family tradition in Senator John Kerry’s household to have breakfast in bed with the kids…and his Apple IIe computer system. After a few heated rounds of
Karateka over who will get the last piece of bacon, it’s back work for Mr. Kerry — plotting his next political victory without ever having to put on slippers.
Seriously; I thought I was the only one who set up heavy computer equipment on unsturdy, impermanent places like couches and beds. After all, nothing screams out “computer desk” like an imitation goose down comforter.

I’m with you gnome. I can’t figure out what it is about this scan that I like so much. It certainly captures a time gone by…

In case anybody’s wondering: no, it’s not really John Kerry. That was a joke.

I have to correct a couple of items.
1) In 1982, I was elected Lietenant Governor of Massachusetts
2) That would be Vanessa Kerry (born 1976) closest to the computer.
I dunno who the boy is, probably some slacker gaming dude.
I’m a lifelong ‘sixer’, not a huge Intel/Zilog user – if you need proof, check out my speech, where I claim my Daughters used the Atari.

lol that’s great, you made my day. I remember freezing in computer lab with thermal printers surrounded by these things. The thought of having one of them appear next to me in bed is akin to a bleeding horsehead.

Of course younger people will look at that picture and say, “Hey, where’s the mouse?” or “Hey, where’s the desk top so I can click on something!?”
