Name Those Pixels: Challenge #8
February 2nd, 2007 by Benj EdwardsWelcome back! This week’s pixel challenge involves flying bullets. The theme is, appropriately, “Shooter Games.” That means all three of these pixel blocks came from video games considered to fit in the “shooter” genre. That should help you pin them down. The first block is to the right, the other two are below. As always, post your guesses in the comments section of this entry, and don’t be bashful. Good luck!
The answers to the last challenge are after the break.
Last Challenge’s Answers
Last time, Brian Beck got #2 and #3 right, but no one guessed the source of block #1. I suppose that it was a more obscure choice than I thought. Congrats again, Brian! You’re becoming a real pro at this. Anybody care to challenge Brian on his NTP dominance? Anyway, here are the answers to the last challenge.

I think the first one is Kolibri for 32X. I never have played Kolibri but I like shooter games. I don’t know anything about the other two.

Hmmm…. The first one looks like Kolibri, and the 3rd is Defender from the 2600. As for #2 I dunno…

1. Kolibri – SEGA 32X
2. Tempest 2000 – Atari Jaguar
3. Defender – Atari 2600

Well#2 could either be Tempest 2000, or Solaris for the 2600.

ok, i got this!
the first one is from ATARI’s Frogger 2 “Blood runs green”!
You take on the persona of “croak” a hard as nails toad who has seen his entire family wiped out by passing motorists, bent on revenge, you hide in the marsh and take pot shots at passing cars while giggling with blood thirsty delight at the carnage you reap upon the unsuspecting humans!
the other two are simply placed here to fill up space.
ok, what do i win!!
