Hey, I still have one of these. First joystick I ever got for my Atari. Wasn’t bad either; one of those joysticks that at least recognised that there were lefties out there, unlike Atari themselves. Loads better than the floaty TAC-3, too.

And oh yeah, @Suncom: what exactly is an Atari 1600? (:

I wish I had been around in the days of Atari, my first console was a SNES, which was pretty good. Mario was the reason I want to become a Computer Games Designer (currently 18 going to uni to study it next year). Hopefully, stuff from the past will inspire me in the future.

The TAC-2 was OK, I had one for my Commodore 64 — it was very durable for a game like Track N’ Field. I did, however, prefer the Suncom Slik Stick more — it was smaller – smaller than even the standard Atari 2600 joystick, but was as durable as the TAC-2. I recall I thought both the TAC-2 and Slik Stick were the best controllers until the Epyx 500 (?) controllers came along.

I just wanted to say that since I posted this scan, I’ve acquired two TAC-2 joysticks from a local thrift shop. After bringing them home, they quickly became my favorite Atari-compatible controllers. I love them and cannot recommend them enough. They’re durable and accurate due to a unique mechanism inside which I’ve never seen in a another joystick.
