Nope, no theft or loss here. When our house was robbed before we had an alarm, both times the bikes and TV went, but not the computer. Maybe it was because it was two flights of stairs…or this was back when computers were less easily sold, heh.
Goes to show, reminds me to make an offsite backup of data. I will do…once I get some money to pay for some hard drives to store it at work, heh.

Our family TRS-80 Model I got stolen, along with half of the contents of the house (stereo, TV, etc…).
A few weeks later my father got a tip that the computer was in a dirt/manure heap not all that far away. He found it, cleaned all the shit out and it worked perfectly until it died of old age after a fulfilled life.
Good thing that the rogues (that’s what they’re called in Liberia) didn’t think of stealing the floppies, too!

My computer was stolen last year, and it was a major blow, especially since I had just given notice at my job. I was planning to do software development from home (which I now do, with a new machine). Weirdly, they did not take the TV that was nearby… just the PC, its peripherals, and a nearby laptop. They even left an older PC that I use as a DOS box.
